WASHINGTON, Dec 8 (Reuters) – Alina Habba, Republican U.S. President Donald Trump’s pick to serve as the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey, said she was stepping down from the role after a court ruled against her appointment, accusing the state’s courts of becoming “weapons for the politicized left.”

“As a result of the Third Circuit’s ruling, and to protect the stability and integrity of the office which I love, I have decided to step down in my role,” she said in a statement posted on X on Monday. “But do not mistake compliance for surrender.”
