One person has died and three others remain missing after a pontoon boat carrying mostly family members sank in San Francisco Bay during a memorial service near Alcatraz Island.
Authorities said 16 people were rescued from the water after emergency crews responded to reports of the vessel going down Tuesday afternoon.
Rescue teams, including divers, helicopters and boats, continued searching overnight for the missing passengers in the waters west of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Officials say the cause of the sinking remains under investigation.
