2 San José, CA Police Officers Arrested After Allegedly Tampering With Evidence

Two California police officers are facing felony charges -- accused of tampering with evidence and filing a false police report.
The San Jose Police Department says 29-year-old Raydarius Surry and 30-year-old Destiney Thompson were arrested Wednesday following an internal investigation.
Investigators say the case started after a baggie of suspected drugs went missing from evidence connected to a May arrest.
Police allege Surry was notified the evidence was missing -- and later stopped a pedestrian with no connection to the original case.
He allegedly seized a similar baggie of suspected narcotics and booked it into evidence using the original case number -- without documenting the new stop.
Thompson is accused of reviewing body camera footage from the original arrest to help Surry replace the missing evidence.
Both officers were placed on administrative leave in September.
The department says investigators have found no evidence of other report discrepancies or similar misconduct by the two officers.
