Bodycam Released In College Student Murder

Newly released police bodycam footage shows the moment officers discovered Pennsylvania college student Karoline Heintz dead inside her Jeep, a discovery that led to the arrest of her 18-year-old boyfriend.
Royce Moser faces a homicide charge in Heintz’s death. According to court documents, Moser told investigators that he became angry with Heintz during a conversation in her vehicle and that a “demon” took over and told him to stab her.
The footage, released Thursday, shows an officer approaching Heintz’s Jeep and discovering her body inside. Police had been searching for the PennWest California University student after her father reported that she had failed to return to campus. An AirTag inside the vehicle helped authorities locate it.
Investigators allege Moser placed Heintz’s body in the back of the vehicle and drove it to the university. His mother, 56-year-old Rachel Moser, is accused of helping him cover up the killing by having him change and wash his clothes and attempting to dispose of the knife.
Royce and Rachel Moser face charges including tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse and obstruction of justice. Rachel Moser also faces charges of hindering apprehension and criminal use of a communication device.
Both are being held without bail in the Washington County jail and are scheduled for formal arraignment on Oct. 13.
