New details are emerging as police say the suspect who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson may have left a message behind on the bullet casings at the scene.
50-year-old Thompson was shot Wednesday morning as he walked alone to the New York Hilton Midtown from a nearby hotel. Video surveillance shows the moment of the shooting that police are calling a brazen, targeted attack.
Police sources told the New York Post that the words "deny," "depose" and "defend" were written on the casings & live rounds that were left at the scene after the shooting – police believe the killer was trying to leave a message as just one word written on each bullet & casing.
According to a witness the suspect waited all night for Thompson to arrive at the Hotel, and Thompson’s wife said her husband was being threatened before his death.
