Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial are set to begin a fourth day of deliberations Tuesday as they decide whether the Massachusetts mother should be held criminally responsible for killing her three young children in 2023.
The jury began deliberating behind closed doors last Thursday in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Since then, jurors have not sent any communications to the judge indicating where they stand or whether they are struggling to reach a verdict.
Clancy, 36, has admitted to killing her children at the family’s home but has pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.
Her defense argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and was unable to understand the nature or wrongfulness of her actions. Prosecutors contend Clancy knew what she was doing and should be held criminally responsible.
Jurors must weigh competing testimony about Clancy’s mental state as they determine whether to convict her or find her not criminally responsible.
