The Department of War held a press conference this morning with an update on Operation Epic Fury. According to Secretary Pete Hegseth, four U.S. soldiers have now died.
Hegseth, along with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force General Dan Caine, shared details of the operation, saying, “We expect to take additional losses. This is major combat operations.”
They outlined the prep and planning behind the effort, stating that the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard have begun coordinated operations.
Secretary Hegseth stressed that the military objectives are clear: to protect and defend U.S. forces and to prevent Iran from projecting power outside its borders.
He noted that this has been months and years of deliberate planning and refinement. The deployment includes thousands of service members, with additional forces being deployed today.
