Indiana Man Charged After Killing House Cleaner At Wrong Home
1 day ago
An Indiana homeowner is facing a voluntary manslaughter charge after police say he shot and killed a woman who mistakenly arrived at his house as part of a cleaning crew.
Curt Andersen could face 10 to 30 years in prison if convicted.
The victim, 32-year-old Maria Florinda Rios Perez De Velasquez, was found dead on the front porch of a Whitestown home on November 5. Investigators say she was part of a cleaning team that went to the wrong address.
Indiana is one of 31 states with a stand-your-ground law, which allows homeowners to use deadly force against intruders. However, police say there is no evidence the victim ever entered the home.
