Judge Hears Motion To Disqualify Prosecutors In Charlie Kirk Case

A Utah judge heard arguments Friday on a request from defense attorneys to remove the entire prosecution team in the case against Tyler Robinson, the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The motion alleges a conflict of interest, citing that the 18-year-old daughter of a senior prosecutor witnessed Kirk’s September 10 shooting at Utah Valley University. Defense lawyers argue the prosecutor’s office should be barred from the case due to potential bias, especially after the office quickly sought the death penalty.

Prosecutors maintain there is no conflict, saying the daughter’s observations are uncontested and the decision to pursue capital punishment was based solely on the severity of the crime.
Judge Tony Graf has not yet issued a ruling. The next hearing is scheduled for February 3.

Robinson faces seven criminal counts, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.
