Two people were killed and three others seriously injured during a car and knife attack at a synagogue in northern England on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
Greater Manchester Police said Wednesday the suspect is also dead. Bomb experts are investigating whether he was carrying an explosive device.
The attack unfolded when a vehicle was driven at members of the public outside the synagogue before a man began stabbing people, authorities said.
U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack as “horrific” and announced additional police deployments at synagogues across the country.
