Parents are outraged after an illegal migrant who is a known MS-13 gang member was allowed to enroll at a Maryland high school even though he was the main suspect in the rape and murder of 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton, according to a report by local media.
16-year-old Walter Martinez was attending classes at Edgewood High School for months, while police investigated.
Martinez, an illegal from El Salvador, came into the country months before the killing.
In Maryland, authorities aren’t required to tell administrators of the suspects status because he hadn’t been officially charged.
Martinez pleaded guilty last month and was sentenced to 70 years in prison.
