Mullin Sworn In As DHS Secretary

Monday night, the Senate voted to confirm Markwayne Mullin as the new secretary of Homeland Security.

Tuesday afternoon, he was sworn in, in the Oval Office.

President Trump tapped the Republican senator from Oklahoma to take over the department after firing Secretary Kristi Noem.

Earlier Tuesday, Oklahoma's governor appointed energy executive Alan Armstrong to serve in the U.S. Senate through the end of the year and finish Mullin's term.
