Pentagon: Nidal Hasan's Execution To Be Livestreamed To Public
5 hours ago
The Pentagon says the upcoming execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed to the public.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday that Hasan will be executed by firing squad at Fort Hood, Texas, on December 3.
The Pentagon confirmed Thursday that the execution will be livestreamed, although officials have not yet released details about how the public will be able to watch.
Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, was convicted of killing 13 people and wounding 32 others during a 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood.
President Donald Trump approved Hasan's death sentence earlier this month following the completion of his appeals.
If carried out as scheduled, the execution would mark the first time a U.S. service member has been put to death by firing squad since 1945 and the first U.S. military execution of any kind since 1961.
The Pentagon says additional information about the livestream will be released later.
