Race Is On After McConnell’s Exit From Senate Leadership
3 weeks ago
Senator Mitch McConnell has announced that he will vacate his position as the Republican Senate leader in November, which means the race is on for a new leader of the upper chamber
So far, a handful of Senators are rising to the top of the list to take his place.
The front-runners are Senators John Cornyn of Texas and John Thune of South Dakota. Another name near the top is Senator Rick Scott of Florida but many experts feel he’s not a serious contender.
Many speculating on the topic feel that if Trump wins the election, his endorsement or effort for a different candidate could have a major impact on who the new leader of the Senate will be.
If Kamala wins, they say the person who is better prepared to stop a Harris agenda will be the one who takes the reins.
