South Texas Flooding Strands Drivers As More Rain Threatens

Heavy rainfall flooded roads and stranded motorists across parts of South Texas after storms dumped up to a foot of rain in some communities.

Emergency crews carried out dozens of high-water rescues, while officials closed sections of a major highway near Uvalde because of dangerous flooding.

A flood watch also remains in effect for several counties, including Kerr County, where catastrophic flooding last year claimed more than 100 lives.

Forecasters warn additional rounds of heavy rain could bring more flash flooding to already saturated areas along the Texas-Mexico border.
