Supreme Court Justices Seek More Security Funding
1 day ago
Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Amy Coney Barrett are making a rare appearance before Congress to request additional funding for security amid rising threats against the federal judiciary.
The Supreme Court is seeking $228 million for the next fiscal year, including nearly $15 million to expand personal protection for the justices.
The request comes after a series of threats targeting judges nationwide, including a false swatting call to Justice Barrett's home earlier this year.
Tuesday's hearing marks the first time Supreme Court justices have testified before Congress since 2019.
