Top Aide To NY Gov. Kathy Hochul Charged With Being Secret Chinese Agent

6 weeks ago Federal prosecutors say that Linda Sun – The former Deputy Chief of Staff to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul - has been charged with acting as an Agent for the Chinese government.
The 41-year-old was arrested along with her husband at their $3.5 million home on Long Island both are facing criminal charges.
While working in the state government, Sun allegedly blocked representatives of the Taiwanese government from having access to high-level officials in New York state, and allegedly sought to arrange for a high-level New York state official to visit China.
Sun also allegedly shaped New York governmental messaging to align with the priorities of China, among other things.
According to Hochul's office Sun was fired in March 2023 after discovering evidence of misconduct.
Sun’s husband, Chris Hu, is charged with money laundering conspiracy, and conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
In exchange, prosecutors say, representatives from the Chinese government facilitated millions of dollars in transactions for Hu, who had business in China.
The scheme they said, “Enriched the defendant’s family to the tune of millions of dollars. “Sun also worked for former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
