Tropical Storm Edouard Makes Land Fall On Gulf Coast

Rain is falling across parts of Texas and Louisiana as Tropical Storm Edouard has made landfall near the border between the two states, bringing the possibility of flooding. The storm came ashore near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, and is expected to rapidly weaken. It's centered about 15 miles south-southeast of Port Arthur, Texas, and has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. In the meantime, several storms were brewing in the Pacific Ocean, including Lowell, which reached hurricane strength Tuesday morning. The hurricane center says Edouard is expected to dump 3 to 6 inches of rain along the Texas coast through east-central Texas, but some areas could see up to 9 inches. Southwestern Louisiana was expected to see lesser amounts.
