Trump, Australia Sign Critical-Minerals Deal to Counter China

President Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signed a critical-minerals agreement at the White House Monday aimed at boosting U.S. access to Australia’s rare-earth resources.

The deal comes as China imposes tighter export rules on key materials used in technology, giving Beijing significant control over the global tech supply chain. Trump administration officials say the agreement will help reduce U.S. reliance on China for these strategic minerals.

The two leaders also discussed the U.S.-Australia-U.K. security pact, AUKUS, which Trump said is now “moving along very rapidly, very well.”
