Trump, Mamdani To Meet At Gracie Mansion

President Donald Trump will meet with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Monday as the president travels to the city for the annual United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s official residence, according to Mamdani communications director Anna Bahr. The White House has also confirmed the meeting but has not released additional details.
Bahr said Trump and Mamdani will discuss issues affecting New York City and its residents. The meeting comes as Trump prepares to address the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.
Trump and Mamdani have significant political differences, and the president sharply criticized Mamdani during his 2025 mayoral campaign. Mamdani, a democratic socialist, defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary before winning the general election.
Despite those differences, their previous face-to-face meetings have been cordial. During their first post-election meeting at the White House, Trump said Mamdani could “surprise some conservative people.”
The two met again in February, when Mamdani presented Trump with a mock New York Daily News front page reading, “Trump to City: Let’s Build.” Mamdani’s aides said the gesture was intended to demonstrate the potential impact of additional federal investment in New York City housing.
Monday’s meeting will take place during a busy week of diplomacy for Trump in New York. The president is also expected to hold meetings with several foreign leaders during the U.N. gathering before returning to Washington for a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping later in the week.
