President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday (October 15) praised the results of Operation Summer Heat, a law enforcement operation aimed at tackling violent crime across the nation.
"We were in many cities that people didn't know about. We kept it a little quiet, and it had a big impact," said Trump from the Oval Office.
Trump said there was a nearly 20% decrease nationwide compared to same period last year.
FBI Director Kash Patel also spoke of the operation's achievements, saying some 8,700 criminals were arrested.
Attorney General Pam Bondi praised the efforts of authorities and their work amid a U.S. shutdown.
