A man is in custody after police say he stabbed two men in separate attacks on Manhattan's Upper West Side in what investigators believe may have been hate crimes.
According to the New York Police Department, the attacks occurred within minutes of each other. Police say the suspect first approached and stabbed an Asian man before later attacking a Jewish man several blocks away.
Both victims suffered injuries but are expected to survive. Authorities quickly located and arrested the suspect following the attacks.
Investigators are examining whether the victims were intentionally targeted because of their race or religion. The New York Police Department's Hate Crimes Task Force is assisting with the investigation.
