U.S. Airports Prepare For Busiest Labor Day Weekend Ever

8 weeks ago Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has warned that the upcoming weekend will be the busiest Labor Day travel period in history. TSA predicts that 17 million passengers will pass through US checkpoints during the Labor Day long weekend. The holiday travel surge period will last from August 28 and September 4, building up to a busy weekend for the airport service workers. “People are traveling more than ever this summer and TSA along with our airline and airport partners stand ready to close the busiest summer travel period on record during this upcoming Labor Day weekend”, David Pekoske, TSA Administrator. TSA has served a vast crowd of summer travel passengers so far, almost 8.5% higher than the bookings in 2023. Since Memorial Day weekend, 240 million passengers have traveled by air, totaling 2.7 million per day. All top ten positions on ‘busiest travel days ever’, were recorded this year, owing to low fares and a warm summer. Government data shows 2024 ticket prices for summer were 9% lower than 2023 and further dropped by 19% when compared to May 2019.
