Wildfires In SoCal Torch Homes, Force Thousands To Evacuate

6 days ago Devastating wildfires are sweeping across Southern California hillsides. They have torched vehicles, burned buildings and injured more than a dozen people. Tens of thousands of homes and other structures were threatened Wednesday. Parts of the popular ski town of Big Bear and the entire community of Wrightwood were under evacuation orders. In Orange County, the Airport Fire charred cars and left a wake of rubble and ash. Firefighters have been working in steep terrain in temperatures above 100 degrees, but cooler weather is expected for the rest of the week. Other major fires are burning in Idaho, Oregon and Nevada.
