The woman shot and killed Tuesday by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Macklin Good. Federal authorities said the shooting was an act of self-defense after Good allegedly tried to drive her SUV into the agents.
President Donald Trump commented on the incident, saying on social media that “the reason these incidents are happening… is because the radical left… is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our ICE agents.”
The shooting has sparked outrage in Minneapolis, with the city’s governor calling for calm and local schools canceling activities Wednesday and Thursday as a safety precaution. Mayor Jacob Frey dismissed the federal characterization of the shooting as “garbage,” and state and local officials have demanded ICE leave the state.
Federal authorities maintain the agent acted in self-defense, and investigations are ongoing.
