Amazon Expands 30-Minute Delivery Service

Amazon is rapidly expanding its ultrafast delivery service, promising some customers orders in 30 minutes or less through a growing network of mini-warehouse hubs.

The company says the service, known as Amazon Now, is being rolled out across dozens of cities in the United States and overseas after first launching in India last year. The store-sized fulfillment centers stock roughly 3,500 commonly used products.

Items available for rapid delivery include groceries, diapers, cleaning supplies, over-the-counter medications, electronics, personal care products, and even beer in some markets.

The expansion marks Amazon’s latest effort to speed up deliveries and strengthen its dominance in online shopping. The company previously transformed e-commerce in 2005 when it introduced two-day shipping through Amazon Prime.
