California Governor Gavin Newsom Signs Law Banning Voter ID Requirements

5 weeks ago The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, recently signed a bill into law that bans local governments from requiring people to show a valid form of identification in order to vote.
The law comes after voters in the City of Huntington beach, approved a ballot measure that would require anyone and everyone who wanted to cast a ballot in municipal elections to show a valid ID. In fact, 53.4% of people voted in favor of the initiative, however, after it passed the California A.G. and Secretary of State sued the city to block officials from enforcing it. Then the states Assembly passed a bill to ban local governments – like Huntington Beach – to require Voter ID – after which Newsom signed it into law.
