Duffy Unveils "Made In The USA" Mandate For Air Traffic Control System

On Tuesday, the U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced a massive recruitment success after hiring more than 2,000 video gamers as air traffic controllers. He also unveiled a brand-new, high-tech digital surface movement radar at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
The initiatives are part of a broader push to solve a chronic air traffic controller shortage and modernize aging aviation infrastructure.
Duffy also implemented a strict domestic production requirement, mandating that every piece of equipment for the brand-new air traffic control system must be made in America. Duffy announced a formal policy stating that all electronics, hardware, and structural elements utilized in the massive infrastructure overhaul must be manufactured domestically.
The Department of Transportation outlined that this rule is designed specifically to ensure that the $12.5 billion aviation modernization investment creates American jobs and supports domestic manufacturing workers.
