French Strike Triggers U.S. Embassy Alert

(Paris) -- Protests are once again erupting in France today. The U.S. Embassy in Paris has issued an urgent security alert for Americans in the country. The alert issued Wednesday warns Americans to prepare for travel disruptions, sudden curfews and possible violence because of a nationwide strike planned for today. Seventy-thousand police have been deployed across the country in response to the demonstrations. The striking unions are demanding higher wages, better working conditions and increased funding for public services.
