Hantavirus Cruise Ship Docks In Netherlands
6 days ago
The cruise ship linked to a deadly hantavirus outbreak has arrived in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where health officials are now working to disinfect the vessel. The MV Hondius docked Monday carrying 25 crew members and two medical workers after passengers were removed last week in Spain and sent into quarantine across multiple countries.
Officials say at least 11 cases have been linked to the outbreak, including three deaths. Some crew members will now quarantine in specially prepared containers near the port if they cannot immediately return home.
Health officials say the ship will undergo a full decontamination before it can sail again. Authorities stress the risk to the public remains low, and no one currently onboard is showing symptoms.
