Iran Agrees To Discuss Restoring Nuclear Monitoring
2 weeks ago
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency says Iran has agreed to allow in a technical team from the U.N. nuclear watchdog to discuss restoring camera surveillance at its nuclear sites. IAEA head Rafael Mariano Grossi spoke to reporters in Washington on Wednesday after meetings with Iranian leaders in Tehran last week. Grossi says it's a promising sign for U.S.-Iran talks over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. Grossi says Iranian leaders appear to be engaged in the talks “with a sense of trying to get to an agreement." The U.S. is looking to ensure Iran doesn’t develop nuclear weapons, while Iran wants the easing of sanctions that have damaged its economy.
