A man accused of using false identities and the name of a prominent American family to carry out a massive fraud scheme has been arrested.

Federal prosecutors say Vladimir Sklarov allegedly duped a Mexican billionaire out of about $450 million through a fake loan company. Authorities say he falsely claimed ties to the Astor family and used that credibility to secure stock used as collateral, which was later sold off.

Sklarov was arrested in Chicago and now faces federal charges.
