New Mexico Flash Flooding Kills 3

19 hours ago Three people were killed when monsoon rains triggered flash flooding in a New Mexico mountain village that has been devastated by repeated wildfires and post-fire flooding. The flood Tuesday was so intense that an entire house was swept downstream. The village of Ruidoso said in a statement that a man, a 4-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy were swept away by floodwaters. Village officials said one else has been reported missing. The water in the Ruidoso area receded Tuesday night and search and rescue and swift water rescue teams are scouring the town. Ruidoso Mayor Lynn Crawford said Wednesday morning that it could have been much worse but that people heeded warnings to get to high ground.
