NYC's LIRR Service To Resume After Strike Deal
5 days ago
Train service is set to resume on the Long Island Rail Road after union leaders and transit officials reached a deal to end a strike that shut down the nation’s busiest commuter rail system.
Commuters across the New York City suburbs still faced another difficult morning rush Tuesday, with trains not returning in time for peak travel hours.
The strike began Saturday and marked the first LIRR walkout since 1994.
The rail system normally carries about 250,000 riders each weekday between Manhattan, Long Island, Brooklyn, and Queens.
