Rubio To Visit Central America, Including Panama Next Week
1 week ago
Secretary of State Marco Rubio will make his first official trip abroad next week to Central America. It includes a stop in Panama that will be closely watched because President Donald Trump has riled the U.S. ally with talk of trying to reclaim the Panama Canal. The State Department says Rubio will also visit El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce says the destinations reflect Rubio's interest in the region and the importance of elevating ties with neighboring countries, particularly on combating illegal migration.
