Spokane Wildfire Suspect Was Previously Questioned in Other Fire Investigations

The man accused of intentionally setting one of the devastating wildfires burning near Spokane, Washington, had previously been questioned by law enforcement in connection with two other fires last year, according to newly released court documents.

Authorities arrested 37-year-old Aaron Farinacci on suspicion of first-degree arson in connection with the Old Trails Fire, the largest of three major blazes that have destroyed hundreds of buildings and forced widespread evacuations across the Spokane area.

Investigators say Farinacci denied starting the fire during questioning. He appeared in court by video and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday as the investigation continues.
