Texas Democrats Ask For Donations To Extend Redistricting Walkout

14 hours ago Texas Democratic lawmakers who left the state to block a Republican plan for congressional redistricting are pleading for donations to help cover their costs. Dozens of Democratic lawmakers have been camped out at a hotel outside Chicago. That's prevented the majority Republican Texas Legislatures from passing a plan sought by President Donald Trump to redraw more U.S. House districts in their party's favor before the 2026 elections. Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Gene Wu says he's used money from his caucus to cover the hotel costs, and he paid for some smaller expenses with his own campaign account. Democrats also have been soliciting online donations.
