Trump Administration Announces New Sanctions Targeting Iran-Linked Shipping Network

The Trump administration is escalating economic pressure on Iran, announcing a new round of sanctions Wednesday despite growing political fallout from the war.

The Treasury Department said the sanctions are part of its “Operation Economic Outcast” campaign. They target an Indian couple accused of helping Iranian vessels evade international restrictions by providing false flags.

Several individuals and companies associated with the alleged operation were also sanctioned.

The administration is also targeting a Turkish company accused of providing services to Iranian airlines already under U.S. sanctions.

The announcement comes one day after Republicans suffered major losses in the midterm elections, losing control of both chambers of Congress.

Vice President JD Vance attributed the party's losses, in part, to the war with Iran.
