Economic And Social Trends Drive Record U.S. Summer Travel

7 weeks ago More than 1 in 3 American travelers are willing to go into debt for their summer vacations this year.

Those at income levels above $100,000, and less affected by economic variations, continue to travel extensively.

With high prices deterring more low-income Americans from traveling, high-income Americans are expected to make up a significantly larger share of the traveling public this summer, at 44% compared to 35% in 2023.

The average daily rate for a U.S. hotel room in May 2024 was $158.45, the second-highest month ever behind $159.01 in October 2023.
