The solders are fortifying a border barrier with more razor wire near Eagle Pass with Abbott saying his program - Operation Lone Star - has been successful in curbing the flow of illegal migrants into the country.
Since the launch of the program, more than 526,600 illegal migrants have been apprehended, more than 48,000 of which resulted in criminal arrests, with nearly 42,000 felony charges.
