Manhattan High-Rise Stabilized After Structural Scare
1 day ago
New York City officials say a Manhattan high-rise that prompted emergency evacuations after support columns buckled has been stabilized.
The 37-story building, a former Pfizer headquarters being converted into more than 1,600 luxury apartments, has shown no further movement since engineers began monitoring the structure. Officials have lifted some evacuation orders for nearby buildings, though the site remains under close observation.
Authorities continue investigating what caused the structural issue as work on the office-to-residential conversion project remains on hold.
