Iran Claims $6 Billion In Frozen Assets to Be Released

Iran's president says $6 billion in frozen Iranian assets held in Qatar will be released, despite U.S. officials insisting no funds have been transferred.

President Masoud Pezeshkian made the announcement Monday, marking the highest-level public acknowledgment from Tehran that the money could be released as part of ongoing negotiations with Washington.

The White House has pushed back on the claim, saying no frozen Iranian assets have been released.

The conflicting statements come as talks between the United States and Iran face renewed pressure following recent attacks in the Persian Gulf that threatened an interim agreement between the two countries.
