Paris Mortuaries Overwhelmed by Record Heat

Record-breaking heat across Europe is taking a deadly toll in France, where mortuaries in Paris are running out of space.

Health officials are reporting a sharp rise in deaths linked to the heat wave, with more than
1,400 deaths recorded on some days last week. Older residents are among those most at risk.
Funeral directors say they are receiving hundreds of calls a day but have little room left to store bodies as the heat wave continues.

Officials expect the death toll to climb as more death certificates are processed.
