Iran Warns Oil Tankers To Use Approved Routes In Hormuz Or Face 'Forceful Response'
Iran's military is warning that all oil tankers traveling through the Strait of Hormuz must use Iran-approved shipping routes or face what it called a “forceful response.”
The warning aired on Iranian state television and came from Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya military command. Officials said any failure to follow navigation protocols would be met with an immediate response from the armed forces.
Iran also criticized the continued presence of U.S. fighter jets over the strait, saying it threatens security in the key waterway.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf and ongoing diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran.
